Discover powerful frameworks and principles to achieve lasting success. This guide explores adaptable personal and professional growth models, including DUFF, outcome setting, and insights from Wiseman, Dalio, and Goldsmith.

Success Frameworks and Models
A few success frameworks can be crucial in the quest for success. Adaptable frameworks and principles can help us navigate the challenges and opportunities in our lives and those of our clients.
It’s about balance: having too few models limits your approach, while having too many leads to confusion. These work for me. Select the ones that are most useful to you in your specific situation.
Regular reviews ensure these models align with your evolving direction, goals and circumstances. The following approaches give us a great starting point.
DUFF: Your Personalised Success System

The DUFF system, our preferred success system, provides a robust framework for achieving your desired outcomes. It emphasises:
- Direction: Establish a clear vision, purpose, values, and principles to guide your journey. Focusing on your desired direction is far more effective than setting isolated goals.
- Utilisation: Recognise time, energy, and attention as your most valuable resources. Implement daily actions, habits, and routines to maximise their impact.
- Feedback: Actively seek feedback on past performance and feed-forward suggestions for future improvement.
- Follow-up: Consistent follow-up transforms the framework into a sustainable system, ensuring continuous progress and adaptation.
A very simplified version can also sometimes be helpful:
- Direction: Set a clear direction.
- Action: Take three small steps daily towards where you want to go.
Setting Effective Outcomes with NLP

While your overall direction is key, setting well-defined outcomes can significantly aid your journey. Here’s how to set effective outcomes using NLP principles:
- Positive Framing: Focus on what you want to achieve, not what you want to avoid.
- Sensory Clarity: Describe your desired outcome in vivid sensory language – what you’ll see, hear, and feel when you achieve it.
- Control: Identify the aspects of the outcome that are within your control to influence.
- First Step: Determine the smallest, easiest step you can take to move forward and mentally rehearse taking that step.
- Ecological Check: Ensure the outcome benefits both you and those around you. If offered the outcome now, would you accept it?

- High-Performance Culture: Cultivating a company culture prioritises meaning, performance, learning, and honesty.
- Building Your Machine: Establishing efficient processes, assembling the right team, and equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to execute the vision.
- Effective Communication: Establish clear, honest, and effective communication channels within and with external stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and improve all aspects of the leadership framework to ensure ongoing success.
The foundation for building scalable, repeatable success frameworks is thoroughly taught in the NLP Master Practitioner program.
